Turbocharge It

Author: Mrs. M / Category: family issues, tools

Well, our second car (we have two Grand Caravans) looks like it has bitten the dust. It has 150,000 miles on it and has seen a lot of action. The transmission just blew (again) and we don’t think it will be worth the cost to keep the thing going. Too bad, because we really need a second car, as the husband is a mailman and uses hiw own vehicle for mail delivery. With no other van, he will be using the nice family van to deliver mail. Mail delivery takes a lot out of a car, so goodbye “nice” family van!

I’ve had the idea of getting a sedan for the family, anyway. We have six in our family (and as far as I know, sedans only seat five :-p ), but we could make do. Or just strap someone on the hood, lol. But with gas prices rising and rising, do we really want to get another gas-guzzling minivan?

And how about a turbocharger for it? Ever heard of a Volkswagen turbo? LOL, wow. When I think Volkswagen, I think Herbie the Love Bug. Imagine it turbocharged! Does turbocharging a car make it more efficient? I read at Turbochargerpros.com that adding a turbocharger forces more oxygen into the engine system, which increases horsepower and torque. Hmm. Turbochargerpros.com has a turbocharger for everything! If turbochargers improve efficiency and save on gas, I’m in!

Cute Floorplan Website

Author: Mrs. M / Category: tools, trends

I heard about this new website through Kim Komando, Floorplanner.com. It’s a site that helps you develop floor plans. Or, if you just want to rearrange the furniture, it’ll help you do that, too. It’s really fun! It’s the best little floor planner I’ve ever tried. You can drag and drop, etc., and it looks like they have all sorts of furniture options, and more– even a spiral staircase! Hmm, now if I can just figure out where to put the hdmi cables and stuff…

The registration is free for personal use, but requires an email (don’t they all?). The website privacy policy says it will not spam you without your permission, lol! I’ve signed up for a bunch of new websites and networks, and my email address has been spammed. I don’t care, because I didn’t use my personal email. I don’t think this site will intentionally spam you, but it helps to be aware of such things these days.

A Girl’s Best Friend

Author: Mrs. M / Category: bargains, tools

Women love getting gifts. I know I do! Most women love getting jewelry, flowers, shoes, and clothing.

But not me.

Most women love getting perfume, scarves, diamonds, candy, chocolates, and manicures.

Not me.

This is what I like.

Now that’s what I’m talking ’bout! Woo! LOL, Am I easy to shop for, or what?

As a young girl, I used to hang out with step-dad in his workshop. Loved it. He used to take me along to our favorite store: the hardware and tool store! I still love tool stores!

That Milwaukee Micro Driver 12V baby you see pictured above is a high-tech piece of equipment that would win the heart of any girl. This one, at least!

# 12V Li-ion power in a small package.
# 1/4 Inch quick change chuck with one-handed bit change feature.
# Built-in fuel gauge.
# Overmold on the side to prevent scratching finish work surfaces.
# LED light for illuminating dark work spots

It’s at my favorite online tool and equipment store, OhioPowerTool.com. Prices are out of this world– that drill, retailing at $250, is on sale for (get ready, girls!) $129!! It’s a steal! Check out more gorgeous power tools, generators, hydraulic equipment, hand tools, chucks, safety equipment, and loads more, at the website. Prices are incredible. They’ve been in business since 1983, so are well established and able to offer incredible discounts.

I love the place. Oh, and hubby does, too. ;)

Survey-or

Author: Mrs. M / Category: crazy, tools

For some reason, I’ve been getting email survey invitations from Black and Decker recently. I don’t remember going on their mailing list. Maybe I did. I did buy a few Black and Decker tools this summer. Problem is, I don’t have time to do their surveys right now!

I actually love doing surveys and polls. I always seem to have an opinion, so I am easy pickins for survey companies. I like offering suggestions and ideas, too. Power tools have come a loooong way, and I’m glad. Since I am a woman, I appreciate the trend to woman-friendly tools for smaller hands and less-muscular biceps. I am still recovering from a severly pinched nerve in my arm. It flared up after all that electrical work drilling 1-inch holes through 4-inch-thick joists with a lousy old electric drill. I was in agony for weeks, and still am when I strain it.

The only thing that would make those surveys perfect is if they offered free tools or something. :-D
