The Last Few Projects

winter prep

We’re attempting to wrap up a few things around the house and yard before winter’s icy grip. It’s been raining non-stop for a few days, and the garden is a large patch of mud right now. I managed to get out between showers and dig up some potatoes. We still have about 10 hills of potatoes, waiting for us to pull them out.

I’m also very happy to say that the living room now has window trim! I pulled it off when I gutted the living room two years ago, and we never installed new trim. My husband did the work. He’s very good with detailed work like this; unlike me, who is a “big picture” person. Doing meticulous stuff like trim work drives me nuts!

I have to caulk the gaps and paint the trim yet… But OH what a difference it makes in the room! Yay!!

Even Livvy got into the act. She decided that the measuring tape was a perfect pillow for a snooze.

Wow… I’ve never seen those rosy color skin potatoes.

    What color are they inside?

    Thanks.

Hi Vanessa. The potatoes are a bit of an enigma. I planted Adirondack Reds last year– they are waxy red on the outside and pink on the inside.

This year, I just planted regular red potatoes (red skins, white on inside). But what I got was Adirondack Red again! I don’t know why my plain reds turned pink inside… maybe the plain ones germinated with any remaining Adirondack Reds from last year??

At any rate… I hope that answers your question! The potatoes are pink inside. 🙂
