The Consumer Product Safety Commission has finally linked Chinese drywall to metal corrosion in homes with it installed. This will just be the first of many problems associated with this toxic import.A deadline to file a lawsuit against one of the manufacturers is next week. If you've been affected by this product, please don't go without reading: http://www.chinese-drywall-answers.com/

Lynne-- I bought drywall during those years, and I don't ever remember seeing any country of origin anywhere. I never even dreamed that a.) it would come from China (dumb, I know); and b.) that Gypsum Board (the real name for drywall) would be made of anything besides GYPSUM!!! This is SO maddening!

Jean-- BWAHAHAHAHA!!! That is SO TRUE!

and SO depressing. :-p

"The best bet would be to STOP all this importation of CHEAPO Chinese crap! "

As the Chinese now own a good portion of the USA, not to mention most of our T-bills, I don't think we can call it importation. It's more like moving it from one province to another.

I would think that import laws would require a "Made in China" stamp, but, the stamp would be on the back side, not necessarily the side of the drywall facing out once it's installed. I really think these imports from China need to be curtailed until their manufacturing methods and materials meet quality standards we expect here in the U.S.
What a disaster!
