Feline Bliss

I haven’t had a cat update in quite some time. My Tabby Point Siamese, Olivia (Livvy for short) will be one year old next month!! I cannot believe it, I just can’t believe it. Like all youngsters, Livvy is rip-roarin’ and ready to bound into adulthood; but like most parents, I am missing those adorable, cuddly, kitten days. It’s hard to believe that it was only a short time ago she went from this to this:

Olivia the Cat

Livvy 1

She’s a striking cat, resembling a snow leopard or a Siberian tiger. (Yeah, and sometimes she THINKS she’s a Big Bad Tiger, too!). She also *talks* to us with little kitty sounds (more like pulses, but sometimes they erupt into meows). She’s definitely more like one of the family than *just* a pet; Siamese are bred to be family members. She’s not terribly high strung like her fellow Siamese are, but she does get grouchy when we have visitors. I got her a padded kitty cube to hide in for those times. :D

She has 6 toes and a kinked tail, which makes her unique all the more.

I still don’t think she’s in heat or anything. I sent her to the vet to have her spayed many months ago, but the vets came back empty-handed, not finding any organ inside to remove. It baffled us all. Since I’d gotten Livvy when she was 8 weeks old, we didn’t think she’d been spayed already. So I’ve been watching her for signs of entering heat… none so far. Quite odd.

I’ve also heard that some Siamese cats have narrow nostril passages, restricting their breathing (nothing like a debilitating lung disease like mesothelioma, but it does impede a cat’s activity). I don’t know for sure if Livvy has inherited this trait, but when she is very relaxed, she snorts/snores, as if her nasal passages are closing. And she seems to tire easily after playing and running around.

You can see how striking her marks and coloring are. She is still developing them– just when I thought she was going to turn more chocolate brown in her midsection, she sprouted some shimmery white lines last week. I, the doting mother, thinks she is absolutely beautiful.

Her favorite pastime these days is bird-watching. Every morning while the songbirds feed on the berry-laden shrubs outside, Livvy perches on the couch to watch them through the window.

She endures my camera-snapping quite well. She poses briefly for *another* photo before resuming her verrrrry important ornithological exploits.

And after such exhausting work, she relaxes. And boy, can this cat relax.

See why I love her so? :D

She is absolutely lovely!! Isn’t it funny how fast they grow??

Hey, a side note–have her heart checked out. The snoring/getting worn out may be something with her heart. It could be nothing, but take it from me–have it checked out.

Awsome to see a Lily´s update.
She has always been beautiful but now she turned into an awsome cat. I´ve always thought she resembles a tiger or wild cat and the recent pictures conviced me even more she´s not a normal siamese :)
Oh..loved to see how she relaxes :) :)
    Good weekend. xx
