Here's a recent blog that may be helpful to you!!
If you have experienced a tempurpedic mattress that feels like it is falling apart and not doing what it did the first year you got it, we may have good news. We noticed the foundation boxes creaking and the bed peaking in the middle. The sides of the bed were like soft cream cheese and there was no support. You sunk so far into the mattress and it was so lopsided that it caused us to be sore and ache all night and each morning,.

As it turns out the tempurpedic foundation boxes are made of inferior material;. They bow and pit and creak after time'. They are not wood based at all but cheap fiber|.

We replaced them with 2 other standard box springs, went to Home Depot and had them cut two pieces of 1/4 in'. MDF (Medium Density Fibre Board)|. Our king tempurpedic mattress measured 79" X 74"!. They were each cut to 74" wide,. One was cut longer to accommodate body length from head to under the knee. The 2nd piece was cut to the remainder of the length of the bed. We placed these across the twin box springs, then placed the tempurpedic mattress on top.

THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. The bed acts as it did the first time we slept on it.

Reason: The Tempurpedic mattresses are meant to be put on a totally flat surface. A platform bed or even the floor would work. This solution cost us $50.00 and it turned out to be the best one of all we tried. We lived with the bed and back problems for 2 years before trying this. IT WORKS!!

Just wanted to update my last post. Tempur-pedic approved my complaint and my new improved foundation come today. This one is all wood. The first thing I noticed after making the bed and laying on it was the support was there again. Also no more noise!!! Hope this will be the only time I need to contact them. After reading one of the above post (July of 2010) by Mrs Mecomber, regarding plastic strips being stapled to the wood and after just a few months the noise comes back.....I do hope that is not the case with the one that was delivered to me today. Hopefully a year later they improved it again.

My husband and I bought a queen size Tempurpedic mattress and foundation along with the frame in 2005. For the past 4 or 5 months it has been making the most awful noises and appeared to be sagging. Since we are both disabled we had our son-in-law take apart our bed and look at the foundation. We not only found what the noise was coming from but also a big crack in one of the wooden planks that cross the foundation length-wise. The noise comes from the fact that the foundation is made of cardboard with a very thin foam covering and then the outside covering. I wrote to the company and they sent me a form to fill out and also two photo's of my complaint. I am sending it out today. Wish me luck!!!

I just purchased a King size Tempurpedic set. Waiting for its arrival. After 18 years of my existing mattress (along with a memory foam topper from Costco 6years ago) we were hearing noises from our bed thinking it was the box springs but I was told from the salesperson of Macys that it is probably the springs in the mattress.

So I am not happy to hear about everyones box spring noise. Does it make noise in both the 5" as well as the 9" height?

I had a similar problem with the box spring...it constantly creaked, because it didn't seem properly 'sized' to a queen frame. Because it wasn't long enough to catch the headboard and footboard lip it was never square and thus ALWAYS creaked...even with the slightest movement. I called them just now, and told them I thought, given the quality guarantee, they should send me a new box spring - and also because I became aware that they're now making the box springs differently. No fuss, no muss...they agreed. Very positive customer service experience....
