Condition 1

winter

We’re back to the deep freeze here in Upstate New York. But February is on the way!! Plus, I saw this video, taken from Antartica, and I feel suddenly warmer with my 5-degree NY weather!

That’s a scientist who lives in Antarctica, showing us what a Condition 1 storm is like on the icy continent. BRRRRR!!!!

Brrrrr! Think I’ll stay here in Arkansas where we gripe if it gets below 40 degrees during what passes for winter in these parts.

I thought for a minute she was showing the rest rooms. Can you imagine? I’m with The Hawg. I’ll take my winter over theirs any day.

We’re under an ice and freeze warning here in Dallas for tomorrow through Wednesday. It was 80 on Friday!

Whooooo, now I really feel warm, despite the freeze currently passing through. Holy cow, how do they survive in that?

I would love to live there. For a little while.

Hawg, Kathy– ditto here! That’s what I thought when I first saw the video! Although, we’ve seen temps at around -15 here so far.

Lynne– oh, hush your boasting! ;) ;) Actually, 80 degrees is tooo hot for me. I’m a winter woman. But not a deep freeze woman, of course!

Kelly & Mary- my sentiments precisely. One has to be a really devoted scientist to duke it out there.

Matt– I thought the same thing. Our power lines crumple with 1/4″ of ice– how does Antartica maintain power with such conditions?! Underground cables, perhaps, but… what did they do, wait for a spring thaw to drop the cables into the ice pack? I’ll eventually be looking up all these answers!
