I've had my AdvantageBed for three months now. it's a tempurpedic that I bought from mattress discounters, and i've had no major issue so far, not even the need to flip. tempurpediclover is right. the material has improved over the years. I agree with your first three Pros. :) warm is not a problem at all if you sleep in pittsburgh.

I've owned my Tempurpedic for 6 years now. I have herniated discs in my lower back. The first few years, this mattress was a life-saver! No more back pain.

The last year (year 5 into 6), I am in excruciating pain while I try to sleep, wake up every morning with horrific back pain. I can't even get out of bed without taking my pain pills and letting them kick in before my feet even touch the floor. I have a queen size, and I'm the only person on the bed. I tend to sleep more towards one side of the bed which is soft and saggy now. If I move to the other side which is still firmer, my back does better. There is a definite visible sag in the mattress.

I've read numerous posts/blogs etc that say NOT to flip the mattress, but I'm going to anyway... I'm hoping that by doing so, I'll get the firmness back enough to be able to sleep and not be in constant pain.

Due to the fact that I've owned the bed for a long enough time to see the long term effects, I would NOT recommend this mattress. Like I said, MIRACLE the first few years, HELL after that.

I'm staying at a family members home taking care of a relative and they have a Tempurpedic king size bed. Any suggestions on what to put on top of the mattress so that you can move around more easily? Feels like I'm sinking in quick sand. I have shoulder injuries and I can't turn without feeling pain. I was looking at camping mats or air mattress topppers.....I'm desperate!!!

First of all, Tempurpedic has vastly improved their product. They have adjusted the layers to improve airflow to address the heat retention problem some people were complaining about. Second of all, they now sell models that are made of a higher density memory foam for a firmer feel. I purchased the Rhapsody model, which has this 7lb memory foam and love it. Like most people, it was alot of money to spend, but Raymour and Flannigan let me finance for 5 years, interest free, so the payments are low. Believe me, if I ever win the lottery or come into some serious cash, my first purchase will be a king size Grand Bed by Tempurpedic. Even with the extended payments, I couldn't afford that one. That being said, we are very happy with our mattress and we are not experiencing any of the heat retention issues that others complain about. My husband is a human furnace and he has been very comfortable. I guess time will tell with the other issues, body impressions, and loss of tempur material response, but for now I am obsessed with getting into that bed. It is the best sleep I have had in years. One other thing, when the mattress was delivered, it was 40 degrees out so the mattress was hard and it did take about 2 weeks to soften up to feel like the one in the show room. The smell it came with wasn't really unpleasant and it disappeared in 2 weeks.
