I’m sure people all around the country are reading their electric bills and knocking their heads against the walls. We didn’t hang Christmas lights this year, but many of my neighbors did. Some went “hog wild” as we call it. The decorations were outright elaborate, some seemed to be challenging Times Square, they had so many lights. I am all for the elimination of those energy-eating bulbs, because my neighbor’s big energy bills effect my rates.I’ve been seeing a nationwide trend toward LED landscape lighting that I hope really gains ground in the near future. New York State electricity costs an arm and a leg! It’s time to move forward with the technology and look into using more energy-efficient means to light our yards and homes.
Landscape lighting used to be reserved for very rich people and their estates, and commercial buildings. Technology has changed this! The new LED landscape lighting is available to anyone now. I’m looking into adding it to my gardens. The yard is very dark at night, and I want to added security of lights, plus I love my gardens lit up at night. We often have a lovely campfire and play the guitar together. My next summer project that I am planning is going to be a patio where we can sit out in the evening and enjoy the gardens together. LED is lighting is special because you can string the electric cables long distances without losing any voltage. One of my neighbors has solar LED landscape lighting along their front sidewalk path and it looks gorgeous!
I am still in the planning stages of working this out. I’ll keep you posted on the developments and how I rig up the wiring for the lights.
